“The Last Applause” is the title of the documentary directed by German Kral which tells the touching story of a group of veterans who used to sing tango in the famous “Bar El Chino”, in the neighborhood of Pompeya, in Buenos Aires. It is a co-production between Argentina, Germany and Japan.

El Último Aplauso narra la historia de un grupo de cantantes de tango de Buenos Aires que solía tocar en uno de los bares de tango más famosos de la ciudad, el “Bar El Chino”. En 2001, el dueño del bar murió misteriosamente.
Un par de semanas después, el lugar estaba en ruinas y los míticos cantantes de El Chino empezaban a caer en el olvido.
El Último Aplauso sigue el camino de estos cantantes de tango olvidados y muestra sus dificultades para ganarse la vida después de la clausura del bar y durante la mayor crisis económica jamás vivida en Argentina. Pero sobre todo, El Último Aplauso es la historia de la lucha por un sueño: la de unos artistas que sólo quieren volver a cantar ante el público, aunque sea por última vez, y recibir su último aplauso. Porque la vida es un tango.
